Forgot or reset your password

Get a reset link by email, choose a new password that's strong enough, and what to do about expired links or too many tries.

If you’ve forgotten your password, you can choose a new one yourself. You’ll need to be able to get email at the address on your account.

Reset your password

  1. On your krewe’s sign-in screen, select Forgot your password?
  2. On Reset your password, enter your Email or username.
  3. Select Email me a reset link. You go back to the sign-in screen with If that account exists, we’ve emailed it a link to reset the password. Check your email.
  4. Open the email. By default its subject is [your krewe] Reset your password. It also shows your username. Open the link inside it.
  5. On Choose a new password, enter your New password and type it again under Confirm new password.
  6. Select Save new password. You go back to the sign-in screen with Your password has been changed. Log in with your new password.
  7. Sign in with your new password.

The site gives the same answer at step 3 whether or not an account exists for what you typed, so it never reveals who has an account. If no email arrives, check that you typed the address your krewe has for you, and check your spam folder. For more email checks, see Troubleshooting.

If you didn’t ask for a reset email, you can ignore it. Your password doesn’t change unless someone opens the link and saves a new one.

How strong the password has to be

Under the New password box is a hint: At least 10 characters mixing upper and lower case, numbers or symbols — or 14+ characters. As you type, it changes to a strength label (Weak, Medium, Strong and so on). You need at least Medium. The new password is accepted when it’s either:

  • at least 10 characters mixing at least three kinds of character (lowercase letters, uppercase letters, numbers, symbols), or
  • 14 or more characters mixing at least two kinds.

Very common passwords and passwords that contain the first part of your email address are refused. If the password isn’t strong enough you’ll see Choose a stronger password and can try again. If the two boxes differ you’ll see The two passwords don’t match.

A long phrase of a few unrelated words, such as four words with a number in between, is easy to remember and easily passes.

Expired or used links

A reset link works once and expires after about a day. If you open an old one, you’re taken back to Reset your password with That reset link has expired or was already used. Request a new one below. Enter your email again to get a fresh link. If you asked for several links, use the newest one.

Too many tries

To protect accounts, the site limits how often it can be used to guess passwords or send reset emails:

  • Signing in: after several wrong passwords in a short time, you’ll see Too many tries. Wait a few minutes and try again, or reset your password. Sign-in is paused for up to 15 minutes. You can still reset your password while you wait.
  • Reset emails: after several reset requests in an hour, you’ll see Too many reset requests. Wait a while and try again. Wait up to an hour before asking again, and check your spam folder for the emails already sent.

These limits apply to the device or network you’re using, not just your account, so a shared connection (a busy office or the den’s Wi-Fi) can reach them sooner.

Change your password when you know it

If you’re signed in and just want a new password, go to My Account, open the Security tab and use Change password. You’ll need your current password. Changing it there signs you out on your other devices.
