Your float and your lieutenant

What the Your float panel and the Your lieutenant card in My Account show, and what changes when your float is published.

If your krewe organizes its floats on its site, My Account tells you which float you’re riding, where you sit and who’s in charge of your float. It shows up in two places: the Your float panel at the top of the page, and the Your lieutenant card on the Membership tab.

Who’s your lieutenant?

A lieutenant is the krewe member who leads a float. They put together the riders for it, look after seating and are your go-to person for anything to do with riding. Some floats also have assistants who help the lieutenant.

The Your lieutenant card

Open My Account, click the Membership tab and look for Your lieutenant. It shows your lieutenant’s Name, Email and Phone. Tap the email or phone number to contact them straight from your phone.

The krewe assigns your lieutenant, usually when you join or when floats are being put together. Until then the card says “No lieutenant assigned yet.” You can’t pick or change your lieutenant yourself. If you think it’s wrong, ask the krewe from the Support tab.

The lieutenant on this card is usually the person who leads your float, because riders go on the float their lieutenant leads. If your float’s lieutenant changes, the Your float panel always shows whoever leads it now.

The Your float panel

The Your float panel sits at the top of My Account, above the tabs, so you see it whichever tab is open. It only appears when your krewe is organizing its floats on its site and you’re connected to a float this season, whether that’s your own seat, a seat you’re riding in for someone else, as the float’s lieutenant, or just on the float’s list of riders. If you’re not on any float, there’s no panel.

Before your float is published

Lieutenants and the krewe build each float’s seating behind the scenes. While they’re still working on it, or if you’re on the float’s list but don’t have a seat yet, the panel just says:

Your float assignment isn’t out yet.

That’s normal. Nothing is missing from your account. The details appear as soon as the krewe publishes your float.

After your float is published

Once the krewe has finished your float’s seating and published it to riders, the panel shows:

  • A line with your float’s number in the parade order, its name and your seat, for example “Float 7 · The Dragon — Row 2 · Driver · Lower”. A lieutenant without a seat of their own sees just the float.
  • Lieutenant: your float’s lieutenant, with their phone number if they have one on file. Tap it to call.
  • Prop: the float’s prop or theme, if the krewe has given it one.
  • A seat chart of the whole float with your seat marked You.
  • A Download float map (PDF) button.

See Your seat and the float map for how to read the chart.

If it goes back to “isn’t out yet”

Sometimes the krewe needs to rework a float after publishing it. While they do, the panel goes back to “Your float assignment isn’t out yet.” and the float map can’t be downloaded. Check back later, or ask your lieutenant.

Changes and questions

You can’t change your float or seat in My Account. If you need to move, can’t ride, or think something’s wrong, contact your lieutenant first. Their details are on the Your lieutenant card and in the Your float panel.
