Register for the season

How to register with your krewe for the season at /register/: when it's open, the steps, which member type you register as, and what happens when the season is full.

Registering is how you join your krewe for a season (a Parade Year). You do it on your krewe’s registration page, /register/, and it ends with your first dues payment. It usually takes a few minutes.

Before you start

  • You need an account and must be signed in. If you open the registration page while signed out, you’ll see Log in to register for this season. with a Log in button. If your krewe takes sign-ups there’s also a Create one link. See Getting started.
  • Registration has to be open. Your krewe decides when. Many krewes open it on a set date and close it on another.
  • Have a card ready if your krewe takes payment online.

Find the registration page

Either go to /register/ on your krewe’s site, or go to My Account:

  • If you’re not a member yet, My Account shows Join [your krewe] for [year]. Select Join the krewe.
  • If you were a member before, the Membership tab shows Register for [year] while registration is open.

If registration isn’t open, the page tells you why, for example Registration has not opened yet. or Registration has closed. See Troubleshooting.

The steps

Registration has two or three steps. A line at the top shows where you are, for example Step 2 of 3.

1. Your details

The top of the page tells you what you’re registering as and what it costs, for example You’re registering as [member type]. Dues: $[amount]. If your krewe uses partial payments, it also says Pay at least $X (Y%) when you register to save your spot.

Fill in any questions your krewe asks. Questions marked with * are required. Select Continue.

Finishing this step holds your place in the season, so a spot isn’t taken from under you while you read the agreement or pay.

2. Agreement (only if your krewe requires one)

Some krewes ask every member to accept an agreement, such as a waiver, each season. Read it, then:

  1. Type your name under Type your full name to sign.
  2. Tick I have read and agree to the above.
  3. Select Sign and continue.

If your krewe doesn’t use an agreement, this step is skipped and registration has two steps.

3. Payment

The page shows your Dues, anything Paid so far, and your Balance. Enter the Amount to pay today ($) and select Pay securely with Stripe to pay by card. How much you can pay, and any fee for paying only part, is explained in Pay your dues online.

If your krewe doesn’t take payment online, the button says Continue instead. Your registration is recorded and the krewe will contact you to collect your payment. See Cash, checks and refunds.

When you’re done

Once you’ve paid at least what your krewe asks up front, the page says You’re registered and your membership becomes active. If you paid in full you’ll see Your spot is saved and your dues are paid. See you at the parade! If you paid part, it shows your remaining balance and when it’s due. See When your membership becomes active.

Which member type you register as

You don’t pick a member type when you register. The krewe’s site works it out for you:

  • If you’re already a member of a type that’s open for registration this season, you register as that type again.
  • Otherwise you register as the krewe’s standard type for new members.

The price comes from that type. If the type shown isn’t right for you, don’t pay. Contact your krewe first, using the Support tab on My Account.

If your type isn’t available, you’ll see a message such as Registration for your membership type has not opened yet., Registration for your membership type has closed. or Your membership type is sold out for this season. Contact your krewe if you think that’s wrong.

Stopping partway

You can leave and come back. When you return to /register/ (or select Finish registering on My Account), you pick up at the step you reached. A registration you’ve already started isn’t cut off by the registration period closing; only starting a new one is.

When the season is full

Your krewe can limit how many people register in a season. Once that limit is reached, new registrations stop and the page offers the waiting list instead. See The waiting list.
