Messages from your lieutenant

How your float lieutenant emails riders, how to reply, and how these messages relate to your email preferences.

Your float’s lieutenant can email the riders on their float straight from your krewe’s site. It’s how they share float news such as meeting times, reminders to pick a costume size, seating updates and parade day details.

What these emails look like

  • From: your lieutenant’s name, followed by “via” and your krewe’s name.
  • Replying: just hit reply. Your reply goes straight to your lieutenant’s own email address.
  • At the bottom: a line saying “Sent by your lieutenant for” followed by your float’s number and name, then a reminder that you’re getting it because you’re a member of the krewe, and an Unsubscribe from krewe emails link.

Your lieutenant might send to every rider on the float, or just some of them, for example riders who haven’t been given a seat yet or riders who haven’t picked a costume size.

Who gets them

Messages go to the riders on the lieutenant’s float, including substitutes riding in someone’s seat and the members they’re riding for. If you’re on a float’s list but haven’t been given a seat yet, you can still get messages from that float’s lieutenant.

Lieutenant messages and your email preferences

Lieutenant messages count as krewe emails, along with the krewe’s own announcements. If you unsubscribe from krewe emails, you stop getting both. Receipts, pickup notices and other account emails still come.

If you’re riding, think twice before unsubscribing. You could miss where to be and when on parade day.

To turn krewe emails back on, open My Account, click the Contact info tab, tick Send me krewe emails (announcements and messages from my lieutenant) and click Save preferences. See Email preferences.

Contacting your lieutenant

You don’t have to wait for a message. Your lieutenant’s email and phone are on the Membership tab under Your lieutenant, and their phone is in the Your float panel once your float is published.
